Fictional Characters

I am a huge book nerd. I love to read, and I get really involved in certain stories. I feel like I get to be friends with the characters, and I get genuinely sad when the book ends. There have been many characters along the way that have stuck with me, and I still think about them, almost like they’re real people.

If I could meet some of them in real life, these would be my top choices:

  • Hermione Granger – She was such a big influence on me growing up. She taught me that it’s okay to be a nerd (aka smart), and I felt like I could really relate to her. She was also one of the few characters out there that focused on more things than boys. In fact, her love life was more of a side note in the books. She was so dedicated to her loved ones, and she worked so hard. I’d love to thank her for the inspiration she gave me. She was a great role model.
  • Katniss Everdeen ¬†– Okay. So maybe I really fall in love with popular books, but how could you not want to meet this chick in real life? She is so hardcore, and she loves her family in such a fierce way. She doesn’t have all the answers, but she does her best anyway. I love her honesty and her ability to adapt. I would love to spend some time getting to know her a little better.
  • May Dodd – She’s from the book¬†A Thousand White Women. She is a part of this government deal way back when we first settled in America. The government was supposed to trade a thousand white women for a thousand horses so that the Indians could assimilate to the settlers, and the two “tribes” could become one. It was good in theory. It was so interesting to see it from this woman’s point of view. She went willingly to become the wife of an Indian, and she was so brave. I loved reading from her perspective, and I feel like that story really affected me on a real level. I would be honored to meet this amazing woman.
