Family Dinner: Pork Chops

On tonight’s menu, I have a plan to make pork chops, macaroni and cheese, a little sauteed corn, and some cheese rolls.

I like to make dinner most nights because I feel like it’s one of the best ways to take care of my family. Growing up, my mom always made a home cooked meal that we would enjoy together. It was nice, and the routine made me feel safe. I always knew that we’d be eating together, and it gave my family a chance to catch up on everyone’s day. It was a nice tradition, and it’s one that I plan to continue.

Pork chops are actually really easy to make, and they are pretty inexpensive at the grocery store. They go well with sweet rubs, or savory fried crusts. I also like to cover them with a little ginger and garlic, and to serve them with white rice and teriyaki sauce. It’s pretty awesome.

Tonight, I will be doing a fried crust on the outside of the pork. It’s kind of a southern thing, and it goes well with side dishes like mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. Here is the recipe that I use:

Fried Pork Chops

Ingredients:

1 lb. thin sliced pork chops
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground pepper
2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. paprika

Directions:

In a large skilled, pour enough oil to rise about 1/4 of an inch from the bottom of the pan. Put it on medium-high heat.

On a flat plate or dish, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Mix it really well. Then, press each pork chop into the mixture, and coat it evenly on both sides. Place the pork chops in the hot oil, and cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side. The crust should be golden brown.

Enjoy!

I am looking forward to making this dinner tonight. It’s an easy meal, and it always tastes great. I hope you try it out and enjoy a nice meal with your loved ones!
