Hello. My name is Stephanie, and I’m addicted to reruns.
Just kidding. That’s a little AA humor for you…
But in all seriousness, I really do love watching reruns of shows. Only certain shows, though. Like, I don’t see how someone can watch competition shows over and over. I mean, you already know who wins, so that kind of takes the fun out of it. And I don’t like to watch mystery shows (like cop shows) because I already know who the bad guy is. Again, no fun.
I like to watch shows that are stories. It’s like rereading a favorite book over and over. I love the story. I love the characters. Why wouldn’t I want to visit them again and again?
There are just a few shows that I watch over and over, though.
- Gilmore Girls
I watch this one because it reminds me of my mom. When my parents split up, I became very close with my mom. We talked about everything, and I felt like she was more of a friend than an authority figure. This show reminds me of the relationship I had with my mom, and it makes me happy. Plus, I really relate to Rory. I am a huge reader, and school was my whole life. Obviously, I enjoy writing as well.
- The Big Bang Theory
There is just something about Sheldon that draws me in. He is so nuts and so funny without trying. I love it. Plus, I think that the relationship between him and Amy is one of the best things ever to come out of a sitcom.
It’s practically un-American to not like Friends. I can remember being excited for Thursday nights when the new episodes would premiere. I even cried like a baby when the last episode aired. I love going back and watching all my favorites. They still make me laugh just as hard as the first time I watched them.
- Grey’s Anatomy
I’m not exactly sure what draws me to this show. I love George and Izzie, and I cannot even express the amount of emotion I felt about Denny. There were so many small stories along the way, too, that I fell in love with. For instance, when the soldier with the brain tumor accidentally had his dad walk in on him kissing his boyfriend, essentially outing him, my heart broke. I love that show so much sometimes.
Maybe I’m nuts. Whatever. I love my reruns!
