Awhile ago, I became a writer on a site where you have to pitch ideas to the client, and the client will choose the best pitch. That writer will get the assignment.
Then, after you write the piece, it has to go through a lengthy review process between the client and the site’s editors. It can take up to two weeks to get a response. However, I’ve been really lucky on that site, and so far, no clients have rejected my work.
Last night, I got some amazing news. I opened my email to find my most recent piece on costuming was approved. And who was the client?
My article is going to be posted up on their site! And that’s a huge site. I mean, everyone’s heard of that site! I’m kind of bummed that I sold is as a ghost written post, which means my name won’t be going on it, but I’m still excited. For reasons listed in the privacy agreement, I can’t even put out the title saying that I wrote it.
But still! I keep checking the site to see if my piece got posted, but it hasn’t shown up yet.
What’s even better is that I got paid 50 bucks for just 750 words! That’s the most I’ve ever been paid for a single piece.
It’s just a really great feeling. I have been writing for a really long time, and I finally feel like I’m getting the hang of things. I rarely get a rejection from any site I write for, and I often get really good reviews from clients. It makes me feel good to know that my hard work is appreciated by the clients, and it makes me feel glad that I’m good at something that I love to do.
Not many people are as lucky as me. Not everyone gets to have a job doing what they love. I think that society would benefit greatly from everyone getting their dream job.
I have another article still pending for eBay, but I’m feeling kind of okay about my chances. I felt like the second article was much better written than the first, and it seemed to have better focus. Of course, that’s just my opinion, and the client may think something entirely different.
I hope to find out in the next couple of days whether or not they accept it.
