Hey Coffee Lovers! This one is for you! 🙂

I myself love a cup of joe, especially an environmentally friendly cup of Marley’s Coffee in the morning.  Most people may be accustomed to waking up in the morning and having that cup of joe right after you awake. But science says this is not the optimal time for you to drink coffee. If you are to wake up around 8 A.M, you should have your first cup around 9:30 A.M.

The reason for this?? Well, your body makes a hormone called cortisol, and your cortisol levels give off energy when you rise in the morning. Here’s a chart to help you learn more about when your cortisol levels give off the most energy:

coffeetimeLooking at the chart, you can see that in the morning is when your cortisol exerts the most energy, so if you were to drink coffee at this time, you would be building up your tolerance to caffeine causing you to crave cup after cup after cup throughout the day. It is best to optimize your coffee to have your coffee when your cortisol levels drop,which would be around 9:30 (for that 8 AM morning riser) and 1:30 for your afternoon coffee time.

Not to mention it is also best to start your day with a cup of warm lemon water, since this will optimize your digestion throughout the day.

Maybe time for you to change up your routine a bit instead of pressing “brew” on that coffee pot when you rise in the morning, wait til your mid morning snack to have that coffee, and start your day with a healthy breakfast. Basically, just wait about 90 minutes after you wake up to have that cup of joe in the morning.

With 80% of Americans drinking coffee on a daily basis this is something to think about.
