We don’t have much in the way of street foods here, except during special events. Where I used to live in Montreal, street foods had been outlawed for several decades. Before the ban, the most popular street food came from what was called a “roulotte,” a cart that sold hot French fries. They are the best fries you will ever eat!

I absolutely love street food. However, I cannot have street food as often as I used to because of acidity.
-
Same here @realityspeaks. Even I am trying to be careful with what I eat.

There are many burger and fried chicken wing stalls in the weekend market.
-
Same here, @jkct01….you just have to be careful which one you go with, based on the level of hygiene.
-
Yes. you have to be very watchful of hygiene in street foods.
-
yes @gayathri…i’ve known some people to fall violently sick from some of that food 🙁
-
-
You are right. Hygiene has to be taken seriously.
-
We have to be exceedingly careful where we eat, for sure!
-
-
-
I love crispy chicken wings fried in a chickpea batter.
-
We seldom use chickpea here. I believe the bean is popular in India.
-
@jkct01….I love chick peas in humous or curry :)))
-
In the local Indian shops in Malaysia they do have curry sauce made of dal.
-
Indian shop in Malaysia? Are you serious?
-
Malaysia is a multi-racial country. The three main races are Malay, Chinese and Indian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysian_Indian
-
What’s dal, @jkct01? -and does it make for delicious curry? I love my curry 🙂
-
@angie10
Perhaps this video can explain better than I do 🙂
-
-
-
-
Hmm that sounds delicious, @realityspeaks 🙂
-
-
@jkct01…I watched the video and still had no idea what dal is LOL a Google search suggests it’s beans/lentils of sorts?
-
“Dal or Dhal is a dried pulse (lentil, pea or various types of bean) which has been split. ” I think the key word here is “split”. Any beans that got split is dal 🙂 my simple understanding 🙂
-
Thanks for the explanation, @jkct01….I guessed as much 🙂
-
🙂 do you have that in India?

I love satay, BBQ chicken sold by the roadside or food stalls, comes with raw onions and cucumber as salad
-
Oooh that sounds divine, @peachpurple!
-
I love satay too, and BBQ chicken made with a tamarind marinade is my favorite.

I find it difficult to stop myself from eating when I pass a food street.
-
It is really tempting I’m sure 🙂
-
Yes, I succumb easily to temptation:)
-
**deep sigh** don’t we all?!
-
-
-
Same here but I try my best to control myself. I eat street food only once in a while
-
I try restrict myself to weekends, but sometimes when the aroma of food/snacks as i pass a street fills my nostrils, my heart takes over and i indulge.
-
@realityspeaks……I also try to restrict myself to weekends. During the week I try to eat as healthily as possible. of course, it’s not always possible 🙁
-
-
-
what are your favorite street food?
-
I love deep fried snacks. I also love tandoor preparations, kebabas, chicken tikka. I love to taste different types of snacks and food.
-
OMG you just reminded me of one of my favourite foods, kebabs hmmmm!!
-
-
-
I love burgers and hotdogs! But I’m not always tempted, no matter scrumptious it smells, because I’m led by the hygiene levels.
-
There used to be a time when I used to eat a burger daily, during college days, not anymore.
-
@realityspeaks….I find the older I get, the more careful I am!
-
-
-
Yes. Inspite of the acidity which threatens, it is still tempting.
-
Same in my case, I suffer from acidity too, but I love to eat spicy food sometimes.
-
Acidity can be a huge problem. I too have to be careful because I sometimes get this excruciating heartburn!
