kendraParticipantNice dream job! 🙂
Mine is to have a big career writing. I’m getting there, but of course there’s more to be in this area. 😉 However, I do have a serious passion for creating things, especially crocheting clothing and have created a shop online to try and sell some of my work. That would be partly a dream job, too because it’s a passion of mine and to sell my items would just be amazing! I would love to have both a crochet job on the side and to continue writing full time. That would be great. However, I’ve been told I would make a good “life-coach,” and I think I would somewhat enjoy that, but my real passion is writing and crochet.

exploreandrespawnParticipantI have a hobby, and it’s called ‘fun’. Whatever makes me happy, whatever I consider ‘fun’ at that moment, is my hobby. My dream job is to support that hobby, and that would be to work as contract, freelance, or for a company involved in SFX/Gaming art. I’m working towards that now. That is the dream job and life I want. My philosophy is that the dream job supports the hobby. Because I truly believe we are not here on this planet to ‘breed’ but to find our path and keep going until we arrive at our destination, and then? Find another path, and another and another.

laurie1979ParticipantI would love to work on improving and adding more crochet making into my side of income to do on one of these days. My mom is very good with making clothes. One of my fondest memories was she made a sweater for me and I wore it during my kindergarten picture taking day. 🙂 On top of that for my first grade year, she handmade a Chinese outfit called CheongSam. I wish I know how.
My dream job is to combine writing, blogging, social media and become proficient with being a translator and an interpreter. I speak Cantonese and mandarin but more so on Cantonese. I don’t consider myself fluent just yet. As of now, doing promotions and not sure how long I’ll be doing that but it’s unpredictable. Sometimes I make a pretty good income as of this month from the June and July promotion for one agency and next month, it may not be the same thing. I guess it’s why I am on here too. Not sure how many hours I would need to try to earn a hundred or more a week of being on here.

laurie1979ParticipantKendra, I am so jealous of you on knowing how to crochet. I would love to know more besides just single stitch. lol I do have a kit that teaches me on crochet and knit but haven’t even cracked it open. I would love to attend an in person class for it but my hon might get mad. 🙁 I like to socialize with people that have some things in common with me.

kendraParticipantLaurie! Aw. I’m jealous that you’re so proficient in that many languages! LOL. 🙂
I loved your story about your mom making clothes and how she made you the sweater for kindergarten picture day! That was such a heartwarming story. 😉 I love handmade things, and it always warms my heart when I hear/read of people saying they’ve loved and used handmade items made for them by loved ones. I can’t wait until my niece is wearing the clothing I’ve made for her. And after this much time and yarn, she better wear it a lot! lol. 😉
I didn’t have the first clue how to crochet or knit when I first decided I wanted to. I just suddenly got the urge to do it, really. Lol. I’ve been into crafting and sewing (although my skills are not lovely Lol) for years and finally the idea that I could create all sorts of things that people could wear all with my two hands, a hook/needles and some yarn was so appealing to me! I tried and tried and tried until one night, my hands finally began making the right motions to get me somewhere. Before I knew it, I was making real stitches! Lol. I was so excited. I really don’t consider myself a fast learner (unfortunately,) but I did finally get the hang of it, so I’m sure you could too.
If you had enough spare time (being a blogger and in your profession, I know that might be impossible), you can learn from the internet. That is how I learned. I would watch the video tutorials over and over again. I am hoping to start putting up more tutorials myself now that I’ve gotten the hang of crochet (and some knitting.) I’d be happy to make videos that might help you. However, I know there are so many great ones already out there that are really useful. YouTube was my BFF learning crochet! 🙂

BrookeParticipantLaurie that sounds very interesting. Sounds like you have a lot of options for multiple streams of income. Perhaps one day you can combine it all and become a really successful entrepreneur / freelancer.

laurie1979ParticipantThanks Brooke. So far, I don’t have any Social media clients but I know that if I keep going at it of looking for one, I’ll get something sooner or later. As for now, I am just fine with what I got. I am now waiting to get the results back from a writing site on whether I’d get to write for them or not.
I also use eBay to make a bit of money here and there but haven’t been going nuts on there. I should since I have some stuff to sell.
-
August 6, 2014 at 2:02 pm #7349
BrookeParticipantYeah I also sold a few things on Ebay but it’s here and there, not all the time. It helps though. Every little bit helps. As long as it’s worth the time and effort you put into it.
An idea is that you could post it as a gig on freelancing websites. I think I saw a few jobs for social media on job posting websites but I don’t know what the pay was like.
-
August 6, 2014 at 2:23 pm #7352
laurie1979ParticipantOh ok. I also saw some SM gigs posted on Craigslist in my local area but haven’t seen one where I could do it at home. I once contacted an agency on facebook if they’re hiring social media workers. They said yes and can be done at home. I emailed them a few times because whoever gave me the email address encouraged me to. I waited like about a month later to do that. I did it like up to 4 more times. No response.
-
August 6, 2014 at 2:35 pm #7353
BrookeParticipantGradsavers actually sent out a survey and job request for being a social media manager once. That is only for paying college debt / loans though. I’ll let you know if I come across any social media jobs that are work at home.
-
August 6, 2014 at 2:36 pm #7354
laurie1979ParticipantOh ok. I would love to see it if there’s one that comes up. How come you don’t apply for any of the social media work? It’s another area to get into if you’re on some of them besides just facebook.
-
August 6, 2014 at 2:38 pm #7355
BrookeParticipantJust never really thought about it.

SadieMarieParticipantMy dream job would be to make enough off of passive income to cover monthly living expenses. Then I might teach dance, and dance just for the pure enjoyment of it.

BrookeParticipant@SandieMarie: You could teach dance lessons and make income doing that.

I get excited about the job interviews. I am further along than I realized in HR. I am only one class away from a minor in HR.
