This driver tried a non-existent overtaking maneuver twice when I was overtaking a truck and got upset that he had to stay behind a small car. So he overtook me when I allowed him to and did a few brake checks on me – seems to be a very smart driver!!
I cringed when I saw this two wheeler (all riders without a helmet) cross the road dangerously (at 0:07). The mother then proceeds to make the child stand on the bike over the bumpy crowded road. The father is not the steadiest of riders! I hope they survived.
On the Bangalore – Chennai highway, late in the night this trucker gently ‘drifts’ into my lane as I start to overtake him. A quick honk wakes him up and he goes back. I wonder if he was dozing off or whether he was just distracted and careless!
This part of Vellore is always crazy as traffic goes both ways on one side as noone seems to know what the rules are and what the authorities will allow. Is he a bad driver or just let down by the system?
The usual truckers trying to box you in and the usual cars drifting lanes while distracted – all is fair on the Chennai – Vellore – Bangalore highway.
Indian highways are filled with murderous driver like this trucker who seems to be having a jolly good time driving on the wrong side of the road without a care in the world. The red Swift and I had a close call.
Look at this short clip and you can realise how most traffic jams are created at intersections. Absence of traffic signals or controls, I need to be ahead philosophy, no right of way concept and much more!
At this junction this driver makes a U turn while being distracted on the mobile phone and oblivious of oncoming traffic. Even though the speeds were very slow an accident would have been very annoying!
The car that was exiting from the petrol bunk didnt bother to check for oncoming traffic. Thankfully I had enough space on my right lane to swerve after gently braking to avoid crashing into this car. The trucks parked on the road completely masked our ability to see each other. I saw him slowly leave the bunk but assumed he would pause and look before he entered the highway.
This kind of behaviour even in modest city speeds scare me. The 4 youngsters on a bike swing on to the wrong side of the road to cross the road. Their eyes are glazed and they are carrying an open bottle of alcohol. I hope they made it home!
