23 days and Still so much to do!!

I just realized my wedding is in Twenty-three days!!! Tomorrow makes 22 days!! I still have a list of things to do, all though they seem small, it can add up and still take time. I better get my butt in gear and stop procrastinating the little things!! LoL. Here is what I STILL need to get done before the big day:

Find those Groomsmen ties

We have decided on “teal” or a “turquoise” color, like this one. I need to make a trip back to Nordstrom rack or Macy’s and get them (only need 2 thank god!)suitย Also need a white vest and white tie for my lovely man, damn guys will always procrastinate, us girls got to get on them. At least the suits are ordered!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Need to make Ceremony/Reception Signs

This seems like a simple and easy task, which it probably is, but still want to spend time designing something and then will need to get it printed somewhere. I need (or better want) the following signs),

For Instagram with our wedding hashtag so guests can share photos.

Welcome sign for ceremony, used as a guide for guests to know where to go for the ceremony.

Print and ribbon the Programs, luckily the programs are finished typed but now they need to be printed and assembled, which is a task. Hope my parents will help a lot with this. I will only have a WEEK when I’m in California!

Welcome note for out of town guests staying in the hotel for their welcome gift bags

Thank you notes for my Bridesmaids (ugh , why did I procrastinate this?)

Must get at least 75% of this done this weekend! lol

Figure out the “emergency kit” for day of and placing a basket in the bathroom for female guests, do guys need it too? Of course no one “needs” it…. lol

Oh and still need to make the escort cards and stick them on the favors.

Still need to get my dress altered (have appointment the Monday I get to CA, then need to hope its done early enough to be steamed (which I thought was like an hour , but now they say I should leave it for a day…ughhhhh)

Wish me luck, I can do this!

Okay, breathe, what did I forget???

Simple Dinners…

Some nights you just get home too late and too tired to make a complicated meal. You can still have a delicious gourmet meal by just making a simple dinner that takes little to no effort really.

My favorite meal to make is baked chicken and vegetables. This is what I made today, even though I was home, cooking fancy meals for hours just is not something I want to do on a weekday! Plus, I will admit I am a little lazy when it comes to cooking!!! Here is the recipe that I use most often (and tonight):

Quarter chicken pieces (used leg and thigh), seasoned with garlic powder, pepper and chilli powder. Then I cut up some red onion, tomato, zucchini and squash. I put all the vegetables in the pan with the chicken, killing two stones with one pan,get it? The result?? It was delicious!! Oh, and almost forgot the most important ingredient, lemon juice!! This made the chicken so incredibly juicy!!

I also made pasta and heated up some onion soup since it has been a cold snowy night.

I cooked the chicken for about an hour at 425 degrees (chicken was slightly still frozen, so that is why I had to cook it for so long…)

Other easy meal options include, spaghetti with a meat sauce, brown ground beef (or ground turkey for a healthier alternative to beef) then once beef is browned, add in the tomato sauce and some fresh onions. I love cooking with onions!! Gives so much flavor!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I also like to make a spicy salmon fish, that consists of tomato sauce, the same vegetables listed above and my onion, garlic powder and chilli powder. I bake the salmon at 350 for about 15 minutes. Salmon cooks really fast, so you have a delicious meal in no time!

What are some easy dinners that you make?

Some Unique Budget Friendly Wedding Ideas

We all know planning a wedding is not cheap, and even if you do get parental financial help for the big expenses, you still want to save money and still have an unforgettable wedding.ย  Some options to create a special wedding reception that do not break the bank include:

Unique Guest Book Ideas

Whether its asking your guests to sign Jenga pieces (and lets face it, everyoneย  has a Jenga game!! Or should at least) or finding some cheap yet unique letters at Hobby Lobby, your guests will love your guest book idea, because it is “different” opposed to the normal guest book that will end up on your shelf collecting dust.

Other guest book ideas include taking an old musical instrument, globe or picture of the two of you and having guests sign.

Get Creative with the Center Pieces

You do not have to spend a fortune on center pieces, the best center pieces are hand made and well thought out. You can take some cheap candles from the dollar tree and some roses and it will make a cute center piece. Or if you really do want flowers, you can get some simple vases and fill it with your favorite in season flower and surround with candles for extra romance ambiance!

Make your creative signs

Buying the signs from an Etsy seller can easily cost you well over $50, if you make your own, even if its on the computer and you print out the sign, it will be much cheaper and more personable than just buying one.

If you are really tight on cash you can hire your photographer for less hours, (just for the important shots), and have your guests snap the rest of the photos on their smart phone. You still get your professional photos, and you will pay less.

Whatever you decide to do for your wedding, remember the most important thing is you are marrying the one that makes you happy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Planning!

3 Things I Shouldn’t be Stressed About…

“Planning a wedding can be stressful”,ย  you often hear. Or “Don’t worry, everything will fall into place.” With less than a month away there are just a few things that I (and most brides stress over that really should be let go. Here they are:

Uneven Wedding Parties

Okay, personally I am not stressing over this one, but a lot of brides tend to worry when something goes wrong with one of their bridal party members and now, oh my gosh, they have uneven numbers!!!! Just step back, and breathe. It is OKAY if you have 4 bridesmaids and your beau has 7 grooms men. The pictures will turn out fine, there is no reason why you need to ask someone last minute to “fill in” for someone that can not commit the bridesmaid or grooms men role. Just chill girl, your wedding will be okay.

The Weather

This one has me worried the most. I know, I know. The weather changes ALL the time, and there is no way you can predict perfect weather. So stressing over something that you can not control is silly and a waste of time. I keep telling myself this. Instead focus on having a solid plan B with your wedding coordinator, verses worrying about the weather…

The “perfect” Matching Colors

Really, it is not that big of a deal that your napkins do not perfectly match your bridesmaids. Or the center pieces are a different shade of blue than your table clothes , or the cake ribbon is completely different than what you picked out initially, it all does not matter, your guests really do not care, they will still have a good time (as long as the DJ is good and the food is good).

The only thing that matters on your Wedding day is that you have a great time, and remember you are marrying the man of your dreams, so relax girls!

It’s a Snow Day!!

Well sort of…overnight we got about One inch of snow that was still mostly there in the morning. Most has melted away by now, but some is still there. ๐Ÿ™‚ Not enough to make any snowmen though… But the roads are okay, so I will go to the gym later. Think I will go that yoga class that I have not been to in awhile!! Then I can stay for the kickboxing class, wow that will be a workout!!

Anyway, during my “snow morning” , I have made my brownies, put together some of the gifts and…that is about it. ๐Ÿ™ I was not as productive as I wanted to be, but the brownies did take a bit to make. Now, I’m getting to the blogging, hope I can meet my goal before the Yoga class!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

But then again, I also need to get started on my “thank you cards” for my Bridesmaids. I love writing cards for my friends, but sometimes it is hard to come up with the right words. Of course I can always buy from Hallmark for like $4 a card?? Umm, no thanks!! Luckily, I did come across this “Bridesmaid thank you template” online that I can just customize. It might take me so time coming up with what to say, as I want it to be special for each one. I have five cards to write.

I still need to figure out what I will give my parents as a Thank you, after all they are the ones throwing the wedding. I will be making dinner for them (and my fiance’s dad and sister’s family) which will be the thank you, but I feel like I should get something else. My mom likes going to the spa, but what about my dad?? Maybe home depot?? Or just do a movie gift card for them…. going to have to take a look at raise.com again. ๐Ÿ™‚ And of course enter my cashback email to earn some cashback!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy Snow “morning” day!

What is my purpose?

First of all, I want to apologize if this post is a bit all over the place, as it it is more of me trying to figure out what I want out of life? What am I supposed to be doing with my life??

It really is not easy finding your passion in your life. And for me it is even worse! Some days I want to be a blogger, some days I want to be a nutritionist, some days a makeup artist… The list goes on. Finding out what I enjoy doing the most can help me find my purpose in life, well the things I enjoy are :

Cooking, with this I can be a chef, which I do not really want to do since there are long hours and cooking in a restaurant is not really what I want to do with the rest of my life… Even though I did sort of enjoy it during my Disney days…

Looking at health articles and learning about eating healthy. I am no vegan by any means. I do like my cookies, cakes and chocolates. But, the nutrition articles always seem to go towards my way. Sometimes I think that being a nutritionist would be for me, but I can not just just eat vegetables for the rest of my life. I like my junk food to be honest. I know how to cut it, and maybe this is the reason why I should go into nutrition counselling.

And there is blogging. I love to write, sometimes. Of course sometimes I hate to write to be honest. I do not know if writing is really for me or if I can really make a living writing. I know it is a really competitive field (as with most other things really), but sometimes I just don’t have the passion to write.

I’m still figuring out what I want…. hope I can figure it out soon…

“Snow” expected again…

For the past week they have been expecting snow in the forecast. We got a little bit of flakes last week, but nothing too exciting.ย  This week more snow is expected to come, as early as tonight and early morning. We will see if it is actually snow or just “freezing rain” I suppose. If it is indeed snow, I can imagine the city shutting down again, I will have to keep busy inside the house all day. Some things to get down on a snow day would include:

Bake Brownies!!

What better way to spend a snow day (or an “ice day”) than to make some delicious brownies!! Luckily, I do have all the ingredients already, I will have to omit the chocolate chips… bummer. I suppose I will live without them, I think or I hope. ๐Ÿ™‚ Less calories I guess!!

Get the Wedding Projects tackled

Of course there are a few things that need to bought for this to happen, so if it doesn’t snow tomorrow (or so bad in the morning), I should get that stuff from the store so I can have the stuff at home to be done on a potential snow day. I guess I can get creative with my bridal party gifts and make those if anything else.

Blog, Blog , Blog

What better way to spend a snow day than to blog (and get a few dollars hopefully).ย  If you can’t go outside for the day, and you are going to be stuck inside anyway, why not spend it blogging?

Job Search

I also need to get back to that job searching, so I can land a good paying job that pays more than a few bills. So much to pay and so little coming in :(. Plus, it would be nice to land a job in California so we can move there once and for all. ๐Ÿ™‚

A snow day would not be a terrible thing, if there is some pretty white stuff out my window to look at ๐Ÿ™‚

On the Right Track of My Health Goals

Since January I have really been pushing myself on my weightloss journey. After all, I do have a wedding coming up around the corner!! However, I always say “I’m not losing for the wedding” but losing for life.

It is has been awhile since I have stepped on the scale to weigh myself, today I got the courage to do so, and I weighed in at 6 pounds lighter than my goal weight!! My goal by the wedding is to be under 150, only a few poundsย  to go!! I also have a big milestone of turning 30 (damn that makes me feel old) that I want to weigh in the 130s by. I have less than 6 months for that one!!

Not only have I taken up my workout routine, I have been religiously going to the gym every day, mixing up the classes, Zumba, Body works (strength training) and sometimes yoga, probably need to do yoga more. I have also been watching what I eat. Even though I do not believe in “diets” or even the “gluten free lifestyle”, I still watch my carbohydrate intake and choose leaner meats. I do not always buy organic vegetables, as I do not feel they are any more healthier for you. I still go out to eat at restaurants on occasion, but try to limit the chips or bread before the meal. I still let myself indulge in a glass of wine as well. An occasional sip of beer as well.

I do not feel cutting your favorite foods is the healthy way to lose weight, cause after time, you will still crave your favorite foods and go back to them. I do think some foods should be eaten in moderation and some foods we should have more of. I love my avocado, but I also love my chocolate. I am just living, and food is great! That is why I exercise!!

My DIY Project

Oh Pinterest, how every Bride-to-be loves and sometimes hates you. Sure there are a ton of great ideas on Pinterest, but there are also some really cute ideas that we would never even think of if it was not for Pinterest. One of them being, the Customized Hanger. When clicking on Pinterest, you will see a bunch of these hangers under every “wedding” category, and a majority (if not all of them) will take you to a Etsy seller’s page selling them for $20 a hanger. Umm, no thanks? But, I still love the look of the hanger, they make great photo props for those before pictures, plus why wouldn’t my bridesmaids want to take one home to remember my special day?

After searching on how to create this customized hanger myself, I had an epiphany on how I wanted to create these hangers. After reading about how to do the floral wire ones, I knew I did not have the patience for that. The final result?

I decided to get some wooden hangers from Bed, Bath and Beyond , total price after the 20% off coupon was $8 for 12 hangers!!!! Score on this one! Then I headed to Hobby Lobby to get some crafty glittery stickers, used a 40% off coupon, but did not have enough so ended up going to Michael’s and finding out there was a 50% off coupon I can use. I also got some cute ribbon to finish off the look. So far, I am happy with my creation. I love that this was something that I came up with and made myself while saving money. Total cost of each hanger comes to under $5, that sounds a lot better than that $20 for the Etsy hanger, plus shipping, plus the worry of it being done in time!!!

Here’s some pics on my lovely DIY. What do you think? photo 3 photo 2 photo 1

My Wedding Week Checklist

Wow , it is going to be a busy week!! Getting a lot of stuff done in a week is going to be fun, but hectic, the thingsย  I need to do during my wedding week include:

Getting my Dress Altered

I just got a quote from my alterations lady, and it looks like I found a good place!! Good price and will get my dress finished in less than a week!!! (my dress does not need much alterations, just a few take ins and then adding of the bustle)

Getting my dress Pressed

I thought this was going to be a simple thing that can be done in an hour, but I just contacted them and they told me it takes 3 hours, and most brides “drop off” their dress and then pick it up in a week, uh no…that can not happen!!! I am little stressed about this one, but it will be fine, I hope.

Bacchlorette Party

It is planned for Thursday night (before my wedding), although I am looking forward to it and having some fun just enjoying the night, it takes time, and I hope we have time for the nails before the party.

Meet with Vendors

We have to meet with our DJ and Day of Coordinator the week of our wedding to create the wedding timeline. It will be fun, but all takes time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Few other things that need to get done include:

Finalizing the favors (putting the guests name on it with their table number)

Getting the Table Cards printed, I don’t want to do this too soon, cause I might have to add or take away a table depending on guest count…

Make dinner for Our families (fiance and I doing this one)

Have fun on wedding day!!!

I’m sure there is something else I’m forgetting!!

Can’t wait for this week!!
