Unreal Engine 4.5 Released With Ray Traced Shadow Rendering

Unreal Engine 4.5

The next generation of game engine technology has arrived with the Unreal Engine 4.5. Epic Games announced that not only is the Unreal Engine 4.5 here for aspiring game developers and established studios alike. The big new feature for the 4.5 release is the addition of distanced ray traced shadow rendering. That’s real-time rendering by the way, not just pre-rendering. Continue reading

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Leaked Multiplayer Trailers Surface

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

A series of videos are currently unlisted on Activision’s official YouTube account for Call of Duty. Twinfinite spotted the videos (though I’m not entirely sure how if they were unlisted) and managed to post them up on their website. Given the domino effect of the way the news works, it’s only natural that the videos would end up on other sites, too. Continue reading

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Goes Gold Amidst Randy Pitchford Controversy

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has gone gold. For the uninitiated it means that development on the core game is complete and the gold master disc has been produced and prepped for the printing of near countless copies. The game’s “going gold” arrives amidst some rather anti-consumer comments made by Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford. Continue reading

Pier Solar HD Now Available On PS3, PS4, PC, Ouya

Pier Solar HD

Pier Solar HD is a love letter to the 16-bit JRPG era, paying homage in particular to the Sega Genesis role-playing genre. I have no idea, but it supposedly had something to do with a certification hiccup. Continue reading

Alien: Isolation

One of the big things that seem to be missing from the horror genre is tension. Why is it that most mainstream horror games rely on jump-scares instead of tension? That loaded question could be its own article for another time. But the truth of the matter is that mainstream horror games don’t really focus on building tension around emergent and procedural horror elements… except for Alien: Isolation. Continue reading

WWE 2K15 First Gameplay Trailer Is Impressive

WWE 2k15

It feels like over the last couple of years the officially licensed WWE games have just been phoning it in. Churning out the standard-fare crap we’ve all come to somewhat enjoy for the sake of… well, I don’t really know why people still enjoy the rehashed stuff. I grew tire of it. Anyway, the latest WWE game from 2K Games at least looks to offer gamers a slightly more dynamic presentation of the popular sports entertainment brand. Continue reading

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution

The whole censorship raid going down on 4chan over the #GamerGate situation is a bit distracting, but let’s talk a little bit about recently released video games, even during a time where the entirety of video game culture is coming under fire from all the dastardly cretins attempting to censor the internet, shall we?
