Musician Lion has released a new album inspired by the gaming community and featuring sound clips and sound bites from notable individuals often using or associated with the GamerGate hashtag. The album includes bites from a few people that denizens of #GamerGate might find recognizable, including the CultOfVivian, theLEOpirate and Sushilulutwitch to name but a few.

The name of the album is called “The Legendary Closed Fist Technique”.

Unfortunately I never studied music theory so I’m not enough of a connoisseur of the musical arts to do a proper review of the album but it’s available for a bit of listening and auricular perusal over on the Bandcamp page.

The album is labeled as an experimental hip-hop album and borrows themes and sounds from the unforgettable chiptune era defined by 8-bit gaming.

As mentioned on the Bandcamp page, the album is a…

“Chiptune game-inspired music album with spoken word stories from various gamers, telling what games mean to them, why they play games and recounting gaming memories“

Sounds like an inspirational endeavor for the musical enthusiast and gamers alike.

This is just one of many projects that is either in response to or inspired by some of the events and individuals associated with #GamerGate.

Others aficionados of sculpting emotional content around artistic works includes Breitbart journalist Milo Yiannopolous’ upcoming book based around the events of #GamerGate; and artist and developer Jennifer Dawe helped inculcate and motivate other designers to create games and other interactive works of fiction with the #Solution6 initiative.

That’s not to mention gamers putting their money where their mouths are by funding The Fine Young Capitalists and helping Danielle Maiorino bring Afterlife Empire to life.

In the case of Lion, he’s used the opportunity to reach gamers through music and help spread the word about game culture by raising awareness through both the spoken word and the chiptune aesthetics that helped define generations and hew nostalgic moments in gaming’s past.

You can check out the album over on Bandcamp and give it a thorough listen if you have time. There’s also an embedded version of it below. Lion’s “Legendary Closed Fist Technique” is available for $7.
