Stoic Games is one of the few indie companies where it’s not a matter of thinking about whether or not you might want to support them, it’s a matter of knowing that you should support them. Their game, The Banner Saga, is an easy contender for Game of the Year, and after gaining lots of critical acclaim the game could be coming to the PlayStation Vita and PS4.
The Sixth Axis captured a pretty cool quote from an interview conducted on Digital Spy, where Stoic Games’ programmer John Watson commented about the possibility of porting the game over to Sony’s latest home console and portable handheld gaming device, saying…
“The ideal would be to get some console ports out before the end of the year. Whether we can make that happen or not, I don’t know,”
“For Vita, I’d much rather see it on PlayStation 4 first, then work on the Vita. The Vita might need some changes to take advantage of the fact that it’s both control and touch at the same time.”
That’s really pretty snazzy. The Banner Saga has a strong possibility of becoming a worthwhile franchise with its somber story and deeply immersive art-style.
Oh yeah and did I mention that the art-style looks totally fantastic? Well it does.
I imagine that if things go over well that Versus Evil might likely want to take a crack at putting one of the most widely acclaimed Kickstarter games on a home console. Also, just think about that: gamers funded a game from nothing and helped it to become one of the most recognized new IPs released this year. How insane is that? Insane enough to warrant a mention, obviously.
Anyway, you can pick up a digital copy of The Banner Saga right now for PC, or you can grab the game soon for the iPad, Android devices or Windows tablets, as noted by Joystiq. For more information on the title feel free to pay a kind visit to the official website.
